Mailing Tips
Here are some tips and links to help you make your mailing more effective.

First Class Potage Rates Flat Size
- Single piece rate for flat size up to 1 ounce is $.52. Anything after that would be $.39 each for the first ounce and 24¢ for each additional ounce. For example a piece weighing 1.5 ounces would go at $.39 + $.24 = $.63 each.
- Presorted (500) please call for quote.
- Automation (500) please call for quote.
- Delivery is usually 1 to 3 days.
- We would need your name and addresses on disk or electronic transfer to get automated or presorted rates.
Postcards (see minimum and maximum size requirements under mail size)
- Single piece rate is $.24.
- Presorted (500 minimum) about $.223 each
- Automated (500 minimum) about $.205 each
- Delivery is usually 1 to 3 days.
- We would need your name and addresses on disk or electronic transfer to get automated or presorted rates.
Standard Mail Postage Rates Letter Size (200 minimum)
Rates vary but a good estimate is about $.237 each. This rate is based on NEPS receiving the names and addresses by disk or electronic transfer. The advantage is that you are allowed this rate up to 3 ounces. Some letter size pieces require tabbing. (Please refer to the mail size requirements) If your piece is over 3 ounces we would have to provide you with an estimate. Delivery is usually 2 to 12 business days.

Mail Size
Cards
You may think that your mail piece is a “card” because it is a single sheet of paper. To qualify for mailing at First-Class Mail card rates, a card must be:
- Rectangular
- At least 3 ½ high x 5 inches long x .007 inches thick
- No more than 4 ¼ inches high x 6 inches long x .016 inches thick

Letters
To be eligible for mailing at the postage rates for letters, a piece must be:
- Rectangular
- At least 3 ½ inches high x 5 inches long x .007 inches thick
- No more than 6 1/8 inches high x 11 ½ inches long x ¼ inches thick

Flats (Nonletters)
The Postal Service uses the words “flats” and “nonletters” to refer to large envelopes, newsletters, and magazines. The words are interchangeable. Whatever you call them the flats must:
- Have one dimension that is greater than 6 1/8 inches high or 11 ½ inches long or ¼ inch thick
- Be no more than 12 inches x 15 inches long x ¾ inch thick.
